THEME: “THE IMPACT OF DIGITALIZATION AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORK”

The Ministry of Commerce Industry and Labour joined with its stakeholders from our local employers and our international partners in celebrating the world day for safety and health at work in this year on 28 April 2025. The world is at risk of accidents and diseases in places of occupation in the course of developments and infrastructure. It is also an awareness raising campaign to turn attention of countries and leaders on the magnitude of the problem and promoting and creating safety and health cultures for workplaces.
Samoa is a member state of the International Labour Organization since 2005, and has collaborate resources and support in celebrating this day and also in remembrance of those whom had lost their lives serving communities and global economy through daily labor.
This years’ theme “the impact of digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI) on safety and health at work” puts emphasis on the positive and negative impacts of technology in our daily professional commitments. In reflection, the transformative era of technology to improve safety and health standards is of extremely critical to the context of Samoa.


1. Hon. Leatinuu Wayne Sooialo, Minister for MCIL Speech – A recording of the ministers’ speech was instigated to reflect on Samoa’s commitment to the event and the highlighted theme. (posted on MCIL FB page 28th April 2025)
2. PSC Circular Memoranda – The ministry requested assistance of PSC in promoting GREEN ATTIRE uniforms by all government ministries and SOEs on the 28th April 2025.
3. First Aid Trainings and Refreshers – The ministry with the support of the ACC puts attention in provision of First Aid trainings to government agencies and SOEs through the Samoa Red Cross society on the 23rd – 25th April at Tuanaimato.
4. Radio Talk-show at TV1/FM – The ministry with representatives of the NOSH Taskforce namely ILO and EPC were invited to participate in a radio talk-show on TV1 Good Morning Samoa program.
5. Savaii Awareness Program – The ministry facilitated an awareness raising program in Savaii for the first time with presenters from MCIT, Samoa IT Association, SFESA and the Ministry, indicating an inclusive approach on their mandates, functions and roles to a number of employers and employees from government, SOEs and private sector in Savaii.
The Ministry acknowledge the continued support of the International Labour Organization, the government and relevant stakeholders in strengthening work safety and health for Samoa. May all employers and employees in Samoa take OSH as one of their top priorities to minimize accidents and diseases which will impact their lives in the near future.
