
(i) Private Sector Organisations (PSO) Grant
The Government of Samoa continues to reaffirm its commitment on an annual basis to strengthening its Public-Private Partnership through supporting the ongoing development of the Private Sector, in the form of a Grant to the value of $200,000 disbursed to eligible PSOs to assist with their administrative operations.
On Thursday, 26th June 2025, the Caretaker Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour, Hon. Leatinu’u Wayne So’oialo, presented the eight (eligible PSOs with their approved Grants for the FY2024/2025 as follows:
1. Business of the Salafai Association
2. Samoa Association of Manufacturers and Exporters
3. Samoa Hotels Hospitality Association Inc
4. Samoa Mamanu Designs & Manufacturers Association
5. Tautai Samoa Association
6. Women in Business Development Inc
7. Savalalo Flea Markets Society Inc.
8. Samoa Society of Agriculture Professionals
The eligible organizations were thoroughly assessed and evaluated against a set of criteria which determined the amount of the grant to be awarded to each organization. In ensuring compliance with the reporting requirements for the grant, a Grant Funding Agreement was signed between the PSOs and the Government of Samoa, through the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour.
(ii) Workers Associations Grant (WAG)
The workforce is one of the key pillars of economic development, represented by various Workers Associations. The Government, through the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour remains
committed to supporting these associations, through the Workers Association Grant (WAG), which helps strengthen their administrative and operational capacities, building positive employer-employee relationships.
This is the third year since the establishment and implementation of the WAG initiative. Associations eligible for the WAG must be legally registered as an Incorporated Society, and must comply with the grant’s assessment criteria. For this FY 2024/25, there were four (4) successful associations awarded this grant, as listed below:
1. Samoa Nurses Association
2. Samoa Seafarers and Maritime Association
3. Public Service Association
4. Samoa Medical Association
The Caretaker Minister, Hon. Leatinu’u Wayne So’oialo, strongly urged the workers associations to continue compliance efforts with the criteria of the grant, and signed a Grant Funding Agreement (GFA) to ensure the same.
