Our Role and Functions

We drives Samoa’s economic prosperity by fostering a dynamic private sector, enhancing industry productivity, and promoting sustainable employment opportunities. We create a business-enabling environment by facilitating company registration, encouraging foreign investment, and protecting intellectual property rights, while regulating fair trade, consumer protections, and workplace safety standards through over 30 pieces of legislation. MCIL takes the lead in the Pathway for the Development of Samoa (PDS) under Key Strategic Outcome 2: Diversified and Sustainable Economy, specifically spearheading Key Priority Area 9: Business Innovation and Growth to stimulate entrepreneurship and economic resilience, and contributing to Key Priority Area 10: Increased Labour Mobility by managing labour and employment services. Through stakeholder collaboration, we advance innovation, competitiveness, and equitable growth, aiming to reduce poverty and empower all Samoans with sustainable opportunities

Our Outcomes

The following Outcomes are proposed to guide our work:

  • Increased returns for employers and growth of their businesses.
  •  Increased decent job opportunities, incomes and improving working conditions for all,
  •  Increased coordination and alignment among stakeholders in the implementation of initiatives and policies to support the achieving of our goals
