Our Legislation
The Ministry administers a comprehensive legal framework of Acts and Regulations that are pivotal in driving economic development and ensuring equitable practices across commerce, industry, and labour sectors. These legislative instruments are essential for establishing policies that promote private sector growth, regulate fair trade, and create sustainable employment opportunities, aligning with Samoa’s national vision of a diversified and sustainable economy as outlined in the Pathway for the Development of Samoa. They provide the authority to facilitate business registration, attract foreign investment, protect intellectual property, and enforce consumer and workplace standards, thereby fostering an enabling environment for innovation and competitiveness. The regulations complement the Acts by offering detailed operational guidelines, ensuring effective implementation and compliance. Collectively, these documents empower MCIL to safeguard the rights of businesses, workers, and consumers, while adapting to economic shifts and global challenges, making them indispensable tools for achieving social harmony, economic resilience, and prosperity in Samoa.
