Labour Force Survey:

The ministry works in collaboration with Samoa Bureau of Statistics to conduct Labour Force Survey. The main objective of this survey is to get an overview of the employment and unemployment level in the informal sector.

Minimum Wage Review:

The new minimum wage for employees in the formal private sector after the review is $2.30 per hour. The Cabinet has endorsed the above increase on May 2014. But since the employers requested the government for a grace period of seven months to get them prepared for payment of such increase, hence, the new minimum wage was effective from 1st January 2015.

Periodic Survey of Employment:

The Division carries out periodical surveys to ensure that the above functions are fulfilled, namely the Periodic Survey of Employment - which is the collection of employment information from employers on half year basis.
